Anniversary Gifts - Treating Your Sweetheart Well
Only four months into our marriage, it’s still not too soon for me to consider anniversary presents for my lovely wife. Roses are just too predictable, and I already gave them to her for the wedding, so being someone who plans everything, I’m starting to think about any possible great gifts.
So what to get? I took a look at a free calendar I got from work and to my surprise; there was a list of anniversary gifts listed by how long the happy couple had been married. For me, I would apparently be getting my wife clocks, plural. Or if we were in olden times I would get her paper. I am a traditionalist so a paper clock would be in my wife’s future.
Do you know what the traditional gift for your next anniversary will be? China? Cotton? Leather? Florists will assure you at length that a fantastic anniversary present would be a sizeable bouquet of long-stemmed roses. The fact that they are making a big profit on a dozen measly (but expensive) flowers, however, will probably not come up.
There are no wedding gifts listed for anniversaries between the fifteenth and the twentieth. Why not? What makes a good 18th anniversary gift? By that time, the magic of marriage has faded quite a bit, leaving you with the dreaded “practical gift” as the most likely choice.
The “practical gift” is one of those gifts where you are sort of embarrassed that you took the time to wrap up. Dust mop heads and 75 watt light bulbs don’t inspire the sort of romantic embrace as a diamond ring. They do, however let your wife know that you know what she really needs, even if she was about to run to the store and get it herself.
Free sticky notes available at your office are always, if you’re out of money and time, a somewhat clever product to make “love coupons” out of. They can then be used to give yourself one free back rub or night off doing the dishes, among other things, from your partner. This is the romantic equivalent to the “practical gift”, and shows you put at least some thought into her gift, rather than grabbing the cutest looking thing from a department store.
I hope this has given you a couple of ideas of what to do for your sweetheart. I guess the sky’s the limit for me, but in the end I think I know what sort of anniversary gifts my wife will be getting. Roses.
Sending roses to your spouse’s workplace from trusted florists is a great way to set the right tone for any anniversary year. Picking out romantic anniversary gifts is easy when you remember the feelings you had on your wedding day
