Head Lice Treatment - A Study

You need to start treatment immediately if you discover lice on yourself or anyone in your family. The treatment process will involve a close inspection of anyone you think may have caught the lice, as well as everyone else who has been in close contact. Lice can move from person to person very quickly, and the adult lice may remain invisible while they are moving from one host to another.

You need to wait a day or two to wash your hair after using the prescribed shampoo. Make sure to follow the instructions on the packaging and continue to inspect the heads of those carrying lice to make sure they have disappeared.

It may take a while to get rid of lice completely. Body lice and head lice affect many people all over the world and you shouldn’t feel bad if they seem to have singled you out! It is common among young children, especially those in school who may be sharing hats/pillows/combs, to come home with lice.

Wash everything, vacuum the carpets, disinfect materials that may carry the eggs. If the lice still doesn’t go away within a few weeks, you should again start over with your head lice treatment. Take an appointment to see a doctor. Your doctor may be able to prescribe a stronger medicine to kill the remaining lice eggs.

Above all, don’t despair! Lice are not an indication that you or your family is unhygienic. People of all different backgrounds get and have gotten lice. To prevent having to deal with lice and treating the problem, precautions can be made such as avoiding sharing hair products, accessories and bedding.

If detected, head lice treatment should begin immediately. Lice spread easily from head to head with out being detected. Begin lice treatment by washing blankets, sheets and pillowcases, and carpets in very hot and soapy water. Disinfect all hair accessories, like brushes, hair clips and combs using ammonia or alcohol. Hairs should be washed with topical shampoo or cream. If the problem is acute, take an appointment to see a doctor. Precautions like avoiding sharing hair products, accessories and bedding are necessary. The same applies to body lice as well and spreading lice information is as much a part of preventing the menace from spreading.
